Looking at the Canon 1000D

The wedding was wonderful but it wasn’t until a few days later that I began to feel sad. Not because my daughter getting married. Using my Kodak 290 during my daughters wedding I took nearly 200 photos but when I came to transfer them to my laptop just 9 were any good.

If I was going to buy a camera it would have to be a Canon eos 1000D. There’s no comparison between these two cameras as the Kodak had to be less than 10 ft to take a decent pic but the new Canon gets shots 50ft away with its auto-focus lens.

The Canon was light in my hand and it handled extremely well after that big bulky Kodak of mine. Once I got the Canon out of the box I had to rummage for the manual which I sat and read before I started snapping away like mad.

The camera kit contains a 18mm to 55mm “Optical Image Stabilized” lens as standard. The Canon has a great little battery that seems to last for ever as I’ve already taken over 400 shots with it and I haven’t needed to recharge it yet. The charging is quick except for the first time after you purchased the camera when the battery needs to be charged for over 2 hours.

I’ve got two batteries for My Canon just to be on the safe side. Its just a matter of slipping the hatch open on the top and dropping the battery in. A 16 meg memory card is ample for this type of camera which lets you take a staggering 500 pictures on one charge.

Photo Stitch and Picture Style Editor are also given away free with your Canon package and will help you when you transfer your photos to a computer.

I’ve always wanted to take professional photos with my camera so getting a 3rd party book may help here. I always look out for a book on the gadgets I buy it seems like a good idea when you may not get what you want out of the manual.

My Canon wasn’t simple to use after my Kodak but now several weeks on its the sweetest camera you could ever want. I’ve definitely come up in the world since I bought my Canon. Posters are not the sort of thing I would have thought of doing with my Canon but if it can do that what else can it do.

I was worried that the computer would not recognize the Canon but my fears were set aside by the computer finding the camera immediately without setting up the software first, amazing. The software loaded immediately and the camera was connected to the computer in minutes. Just popped up on its own, fantastic.

After several weeks of using this model I’d urge anyone who’s thinking of upgrading to seriously think about getting a Canon 1000D.
